Criticism of RIGI and Energy Policies in Argentina

Darío Martínez, former Secretary of Energy of the Nation during Alberto Fernández's government and current legislator for Neuquén, expressed his opinion on various topics in an interview with Radio Splendid. Martínez highlighted the importance of the PASO as a tool to democratize the election system in the primaries, considering it a good law to select the best candidate.

Regarding the Regime of Incentives for Large Investments (RIGI), Martínez categorized it as a mistake, arguing that it allows for the liquidation of 100% of dollars and that the industry is not demanding energy, which is reflected in lower production. He also mentioned that Argentina has eliminated the self-sufficiency energy rule and that the principle of maximum profitability of the sector now prevails.

On Vaca Muerta, Martínez pointed out the need to increase its production and complete the network of gas pipelines. He emphasized that the private sector does not build gas pipelines and prefers to import gas instead of investing in local infrastructure, which he considers a critical point to address.

Regarding the policies of the current government, Martínez mentioned that he perceives a lack of planning and a significant dose of improvisation in energy matters, which, in his view, negatively impacts several sectors, especially small and medium-sized Argentine companies. He concluded that it is essential to correct these decisions to strengthen the country's economy.
