National deputy of the PRO, Silvia Lospennato, celebrated the signing of the majority report of Ficha Limpia, an initiative she herself promoted as the author of the first draft law in 2016. Highlighting that provincial law often surpasses national law in speed, she listed the provinces that have implemented this regulation since November 2020 onwards, in addition to those that have announced plans to follow the same path.

The project seeks to establish a minimum ethical standard that prevents individuals with confirmed corruption offenses from holding public offices and participating in elections. After being stalled last December, the ruling party committed to working on a new proposal during the summer, with the drafting led by a commission coordinated by Alejandro Fargosi, with the participation of Lospennato.

In her intervention as an informing member, Lospennato highlighted the broad support received for the project, except from Kirchnerism. She stressed that the current version is superior to the previous one, including all officials of the national public administration as subjects covered and a clause to prevent its application in a proscriptive manner during election years.

The deputy emphasized that Ficha Limpia is a requirement of the constitutional reform of 1994 that sought to address the crime of corruption, considered as harmful to democracy as an armed uprising against the homeland. She argued that the measure is preventive and temporary, preventing persons convicted of corruption from accessing public positions again.

Lospennato emphasized that Ficha Limpia does not affect the principle of presumption of innocence and celebrated the support given by the Argentine provinces and citizen backing for this initiative.
