The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, spoke about the temporary reduction of withholdings on the agricultural sector, highlighting that the goal is for it to be a temporary measure and that fiscal balance will not be compromised. During a meeting with the Agricultural Liaison Table, where rural leaders were expected to demand the permanent elimination of these withholdings, Caputo emphasized the temporary nature of the decision.
"The goal is for it to become something permanent in the agricultural sector but it now expires in June, we will not jeopardize fiscal balance in any way," said the minister. He noted that, at a time of surplus, it was decided to invest in reducing the impact of withholdings on the agricultural sector, especially after a season of favorable rains in the core area that has driven up soybean prices.
Caputo emphasized that the Government plans to move towards the elimination of these taxes in the future. He mentioned that his administration has worked on the reduction of various taxes, such as inflation tax, the Country Tax, withholdings on regional economies, among others, with the aim of promoting production and balancing conditions for different sectors.
Regarding the withholdings, the minister reiterated that it is a temporary measure to support the agricultural sector and that the Government seeks to eliminate these taxes in the long term. He underscored that the intention is to pave the way for reducing the tax burden and promoting economic development in the country.
