National Deputy Marcela Campagnoli, from the Civic Coalition, reported that her party will vote in favor of the suspension of the open primary elections (PASO), but will not support their elimination, considering them an important tool for democratic engagement. Campagnoli stated that PASO are necessary to organize political spaces and recalled that in the 2015 elections, Mauricio Macri was elected president thanks to this electoral tool.
"We are going to vote for the suspension of PASO," affirmed Campagnoli, emphasizing that their elimination is not a viable option since, in her opinion, they represent an investment in improving electoral tools. The CC deputy criticized those who see PASO as an expense, stating that they are a necessary investment.
Regarding those who now advocate for the elimination of PASO, Campagnoli labeled them as "opportunists," citing legislators who respond to governors from provinces such as Santiago del Estero and Catamarca. The legislator questioned these changes in political position, arguing that there is currently a lack of clear definition regarding the identity of each political space.
