Political Debate After the Pride March in Argentina

The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, criticized former President Cristina Kirchner after she questioned President Javier Milei for his comments against the LGBT community during the Anti-Fascist and Anti-Racist Pride March at the Davos Forum. Adorni responded through his personal account stating: 'Those who sank 57% of the population into poverty and left 2 out of 3 children in Argentina poor talk about the ‘right to prosperity.’ Those who left an entire generation without a future talk about the ‘right to happiness.’'

Adorni also mentioned the importance of respecting the right to happiness, emphasizing the freedom of partner choice and family formation, highlighting that feelings have no gender. He concluded his message by affirming that President Milei will not be able to violate the rights to prosperity and happiness, and he will have to confront them at some point.

Adorni's reaction was a response to the extensive message published by former Vice President Cristina Fernández Kirchner, in which she highlighted that the marches against the libertarian government's policies reflected the deep aspirations and emotions of Argentine society. In particular, she mentioned the importance of defending public universities and the recent mobilization of the LGBTIQ+ collective, emphasizing the unity of broader sectors of society in these protests.

In her criticism, Fernández Kirchner pointed out that the demonstration in favor of public universities had a transversal character by representing access to higher education as a dream of upward social mobility. Regarding the Anti-Fascist Pride march, she highlighted that, although it arose in rejection of President Milei's aggressions, it managed to mobilize various sectors of society, demonstrating a broader response in favor of diversity and the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community.
