Detention of Suspects in Bribery Attempt in Buenos Aires

A man and a woman who attempted to bribe a police officer from the City Police remain in custody with preventive detention for the crimes of bribery, forgery of a public document, and use of a forged document. The decision was made during an indictment hearing presided over by Judge Gonzalo Rua. The incident took place at a traffic control on the exit of the Ricardo Balbín highway and Huergo Avenue.

The request for preventive detention was made by deputy prosecutor Carlos Caputto from the East Flagrancy Unit. According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the man and woman attempted to bribe the police officer to avoid a fine, but the attempt was recorded on video and led to their arrest.

The police report indicates that the Digital Ring Division stopped the white Toyota Cross truck in which the man was traveling to request documentation. Shortly after, another vehicle driven by the woman was stopped, who also tried to offer a bribe to the police officer. It was learned that the woman had a criminal record for the same offense.

After an investigation revealed that the driver of the first vehicle had given a false identity and was carrying forged documents from Peru, as well as a fake international driver's license, it was found that he had a prior conviction for trafficking illegal substances. In 2016, he was expelled from the country by the National Migration Directorate.
