Senator Alfredo De Angeli will be proclaimed the new president of the PRO bloc in the Senate, replacing Luis Juez. Juez has stated that his departure is due to the completion of a cycle, dismissing rumors about a possible jump to another party or taking over the provisional presidency of the Senate. De Angeli has expressed that they will continue to support Milei's government on projects that benefit Argentinians.
De Angeli pointed out the importance of having the 2024 Budget for the well-being of the governors, stating that the debate on this is crucial. The elimination of the PASO is another key issue that will be discussed within the party and with the deputies. De Angeli will be accompanied in leading the bench by Martín Goerling Lara as vice president.
During a meeting, it was decided that De Angeli would assume the presidency of the PRO bloc in the Senate, with the support of Mauricio Macri. De Angeli has expressed his commitment to institutionalism and the defense of democracy and the republic, highlighting the importance of debate and avoiding "getting stuck in positions."
Juez's decision to leave the presidency of the bloc is due to feeling undermined, mainly in a recent vote that resulted in the expulsion of Edgardo Kueider. In the meeting this Tuesday, all eight members of the bloc were present, including De Angeli and Goerling, as well as other senators who participated both in person and virtually.
