Elections Scheduled for May 11, 2025

In Argentina, provincial elections will take place on May 11, 2025, to elect representatives and reform municipal charters in 19 localities. The decision follows a national decree for a holiday.

Elections Scheduled for May 11, 2025

Provincial Decree No. 30 establishes that in 19 towns in the province of Salta, Argentina, 232 delegates will be elected. Twelve of these towns wish to reform their organic charters, while seven will work on their creation. This change was announced by Governor Gustavo Sáenz through Decree No. 29, which partially modifies the initial call from Decree No. 689/24.

The election date has been postponed from May 4 to May 11, 2025, according to the provisions of National Decree No. 1027/24. The latter establishes that May 2 will be considered a non-working day for tourism purposes in the year 2025, with the aim of promoting domestic tourism in Argentina. Therefore, the provincial government deemed it appropriate to change the election date to encourage participation in this democratic event.

In addition to electing representatives of the legislative chambers and municipal Deliberative Councils, citizens of 19 towns, including Apolinario Saravia, Salta, and Tartagal, will also select municipal delegates on the same day. These delegates will be tasked with drafting or reforming the respective Organic Charters of their municipalities, a fundamental process for the organization and structure of government at the local level.
