City Police officials thwarted a possible escape attempt by discovering the beginning of a hole that some inmates were making in the Alcaidía 8 bis of the Villa Lugano neighborhood. During the routine surveillance, the guards noticed suspicious activities and a series of unusual noises, which triggered the security protocol and summoned the personnel from the Tactical Intervention Unit of the Alcaidías Division (DUTIA).
Once the eight inmates were removed from the cell, a thorough inspection was carried out, revealing two small holes that seemed to be the start of a possible escape tunnel, and an eight-inch iron tip was seized that was being used to make the hole. Additionally, illegal substances such as marijuana and cocaine were found, among other things. The exhaustive review included walls, ceilings, doors, and bars to rule out other irregularities.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the police personnel, a potential escape attempt was successfully prevented.
