A tragic incident took place in the town of Cacique Guaymallén, Mendoza, where a 15-year-old boy lost his life drowning while swimming with friends in a nearby ditch close to the Godoy Cruz club field. The situation occurred last Thursday night when firefighters arrived at the scene to try to save the teenager, without success.
According to information provided by police sources, the young man was swept away by the strong current of the ditch, particularly dangerous in the area of the gates. Despite his friends' efforts to assist him, they could not prevent the current from carrying him away and had to call for help by dialing 911. The situation became even more complicated when the young man got trapped in the area of the gates.
After the emergency call, both the Guaymallén firefighters and police officers quickly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, they attempted to revive the young man through cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but unfortunately, despite all efforts made, SEC medical personnel confirmed the minor's death at the incident scene.
