A former police officer from Tucumán was sentenced to 9 years in prison for sexually exploiting a woman for four months in 2021. The Federal Oral Criminal Court of Tucumán convicted the former provincial police officer, who was in a situation of mandatory retirement, for these crimes.
The investigation revealed that the victim managed to escape from the exploitation situation, but the aggressor, Darío Mauricio Sandoval, recaptured her months later through a fake profile on social media. Sandoval initially lured the victim by pretending to be an invented person and offered her modeling jobs, thus establishing contact with her.
The accused was sentenced for human trafficking for sexual exploitation during the recruitment and transportation stages, aggravated by the consummation of the exploitation. The judges also imposed comprehensive compensation of 6.5 million pesos.
The former police officer exploited the woman by deceiving her and forcing her to work as a sexual escort, performing several "pases" daily. Taking advantage of the victim's economic and family vulnerability, Sandoval transported her to hotels to engage in sexual relations with other men in exchange for money.
Months after the initial exploitation, the aggressor tried to contact the victim again with a fake profile, threatening her when she refused to continue working for him. Police intervention managed to prevent the situation from worsening, and several items were seized from Sandoval's possession.
The former police officer was prohibited from approaching the victim, and an additional investigation against him was initiated. The sentence imposed reflects the seriousness of the acts committed by Sandoval and aims to deliver justice to the victim of his sexual exploitation.
