The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a yellow alert for storms this Wednesday in at least six provinces of the country, where heavy rains, electrical activity, and possible hail are expected. According to what the Argentine News Agency (NA) was able to find out, the affected area will be impacted by storms of varying intensity, some of which may be locally severe, and they could develop throughout the day. The provinces under alert are Chubut, western Río Negro, southern Neuquén, Tucumán, Formosa, Salta, and Jujuy. The official report warns that these phenomena will be accompanied by rains, abundant in short periods, frequent electrical activity, occasional hail, and wind gusts that can exceed 80 km/h. As for precipitation, accumulated values between 25 and 50 millimeters are expected, although in a punctual manner, higher amounts could be registered. Recommendations under a yellow alert The SMN indicated a series of preventive measures to reduce risks in the face of these types of phenomena: Avoid leaving home if it is not necessary. Do not take out the trash and clean drains and manholes. Disconnect appliances and cut the power if water enters. Close doors and windows and stay away from them. Remove or secure objects that could be dragged by the wind. If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a closed place.
