Severe Storms and Hail in Argentina: SMN Alerts

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has once again issued alerts for various adverse weather events, such as severe storms and possible hail. These phenomena will affect extensive areas of the country on Tuesday. According to the Argentine News Agency, the storms with possible hail will affect regions of the provinces of Mendoza, San Luis, Córdoba, La Pampa, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Catamarca, and Salta. For the yellow alert zone, the SMN indicates that the area will be affected by isolated storms of varying intensity, some of which will be locally severe.

These events will be accompanied by heavy rain in short periods, frequent electrical activity, occasional hail, and intense gusts that could reach 80 km/h. Accumulated precipitation values of between 30 and 70 mm are expected, which could be exceeded in specific areas.

SMN Recommendations: • Avoid going outside. • Do not take out the trash and clear drains and manholes. • Unplug appliances and cut off the power supply if water enters. • Close and stay away from doors and windows. • Remove or secure objects that could be blown away by the wind. • If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building, house, or closed vehicle.
