Five-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized in La Pampa with Positive Cocaine Test

A five-year-old girl is hospitalized in a health center in La Pampa after testing positive for cocaine in a urine test, and her father was detained but later released, while the Justice conducted a search and seizure of various items.

The case happened last Saturday when a man took his daughter to the emergency room of the “René Favaloro” Hospital, where doctors performed an exam to determine the possible causes of her discomfort, and the result was positive for cocaine, according to the Argentine News Agency.

“The minor is fine. That’s what matters,” said prosecutor Cristian Casais in dialogue with La Arena, while commenting that the girl’s father had left the place. According to Casais, the man left without notice from the health center, but he was found by police officers who conducted a search at his home and seized various items of interest to the case.

The incident is being investigated by the Justice to determine how the child came to ingest cocaine, and it has been entrusted to the General Directorate of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family, dependent on the Ministry of Social Development and Human Rights.

This case adds to one that occurred on August 4 of last year, when in the same capital hospital, an eight-month-old baby was admitted, and upon routine tests, doctors discovered she had cocaine in her system.

Subsequently, on August 9, the Emergency Medical Service (SEM) was urgently called to a house in the Talleres neighborhood, in General Pico, due to the decompensation of a two-year-old girl, and after performing tests, it was also revealed that she had accidentally ingested cocaine.

She remains hospitalized at Favaloro, but fortunately, she is out of danger.
