Buenos Aires, Feb 7 (NA) — More than 72,000 Palestinians have died in the Gaza Strip and nearly 171,000 have been injured since October 2023 as a result of the conflict with Israeli forces, enclave health authorities confirmed today. In a press release, they stated that from January 30 to February 6 of this year, 174 more deaths were added to the official figure after approval by the relevant government committee. Since October 10, when the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect, 576 Palestinians have died and 1,543 have been injured. In another statement, health authorities indicated that the remaining hospitals in the Gaza Strip are struggling to continue providing services and have become mere waiting rooms for thousands of patients, adding that many of the injured face an uncertain future. Furthermore, according to the Argentine News Agency, via Xinhua, basic painkillers have become a rare luxury due to their scarcity. It also added that there is a 46% shortage of essential medicines, a 66% shortage of medical supplies, and an 84% shortage of laboratory materials, as well as a blood bank shortage. Meanwhile, areas such as cancer treatments, hematology, surgeries, intensive care, and primary healthcare are among the most affected, with a significant limitation in available supplies that fail to meet the demand.
