On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, celebrated on February 10, Google Workspace shared essential practices for users to recognize and block scams in Gmail, ensuring a more reliable digital environment. According to the Argentine News Agency, the security context in the region is challenging. The M-Trends 2025 report by Mandiant reveals that credential theft (18%) has surpassed phishing (16%) as the top attack vector in the Americas, second only to vulnerability exploitation (28%). The average time to detect an intrusion in the region is 10 days, and 62% of ransomware victims only become aware of the attack when notified by the criminal themselves. To protect their accounts, Google recommends: rigorous validation of the sender, being cautious with confidential data, enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), scanning links, and using "Confidential Mode" for sending sensitive information.
