The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) reported that it detected 97 cases of drunk driving during the control operations carried out on Christmas Eve, with the highest reading being 1.83 g/l. According to information provided to the Noticias Argentinas agency, a total of 5,220 vehicles were inspected on roads and access routes across the country, resulting in 163 violation reports. In this regard, traffic inspectors carried out 102 vehicle impounds, while the highest blood alcohol level was recorded in the San Juan city of Caucete at 1.83 g/l. Furthermore, all drivers were removed from circulation as part of operations at 39 strategic points in Argentina, which will continue throughout the day. Other high readings occurred in Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos, at 1.66 g/l, in Wanda, Misiones, at 1.57, while the other two took place in the province of Río Negro: 1.49 in San Carlos de Bariloche and 1.47 in Las Grutas. "These controls will be repeated during New Year's Eve and will continue throughout the summer season on roads, highways, and access roads to main tourist destinations," the ANSV emphasized.
