Argentinian Media Mogul Hospitalized in Uruguay After Wasp Stings

Gustavo Scaglione, a key figure in Argentine media, was urgently taken to a hospital in Punta del Este after multiple wasp stings caused an anaphylactic shock. The entrepreneur, who led the recent acquisition of the Telefe channel, is out of danger and recovering.

Argentinian entrepreneur Gustavo Scaglione, one of the main shareholders of the Telefe channel and a central figure in the recent change of control in Argentine open television, had to be urgently transferred to a health center in Punta del Este after suffering multiple wasp stings that caused an anaphylactic shock.

The episode occurred on Tuesday at a farm located near José Ignacio, a few kilometers from the local policlinic. Scaglione became a central figure in the Argentine media system after leading the purchase of Telefe, the leading signal of open television, which until then belonged to the American Paramount Global.

According to sources, the 64-year-old entrepreneur from Rosario began to decompensate rapidly after the stings and was transferred in a private vehicle to the nearest care center, where he was admitted unconscious with a sharp drop in blood pressure. Doctor Leonardo Falcao, a member of the team that received him, explained that Scaglione arrived in a critical state, with blood pressure values below normal parameters, which forced the immediate activation of the international protocol for cases of anaphylactic shock.

The patient was transferred to the resuscitation area, where he received specific medication and intensive assistance to reverse the severe allergic reaction. After several minutes of medical work, the situation was progressively stabilized. The transfer was made with the patient already stabilized and under constant monitoring, which allowed to avoid further complications.

According to the medical report, the subsequent evolution was favorable. They even confirmed that the entrepreneur resumed contact with his inner circle a few hours later and received a visit from one of his sons. Falcao himself stated that, once out of danger, Scaglione returned the next day to the policlinic to personally thank the care received, a gesture not common in this type of situation.

Scaglione leads the Televisión Litoral Group, founded in 1965, with a strong presence in media in the interior of the country. With the incorporation of Telefe, Scaglione's group consolidates as one of the most influential media conglomerates in Argentina, with presence in open television, cable, radio, graphic press and digital platforms. In this context, the health episode that occurred in Uruguay generated attention in the business, political and media spheres, although the latest information confirms that the entrepreneur is already out of danger and in the process of recovery, with no apparent sequelae.
