The renowned actor and comedian Antonio Gasalla passed away this Tuesday at the age of 84. In recent times, Gasalla had been fighting against a progressive senile dementia that considerably affected his mental and motor health, leading to his admission to a rehabilitation center. The sad news of his passing was confirmed by theater entrepreneur Carlos Rottemberg.
Days before his death, his brother Carlos Gasalla had reported that the actor was urgently hospitalized due to respiratory complications, receiving antibiotic treatment in the intensive care unit of Sanatorio Otamendi. Although he was discharged last week after being interned since March 4, his health had been compromised since 2020.
Gasalla's illness had progressed to the point where he could no longer recognize the people around him or even remember his own performances. According to his brother, the actor could no longer identify his own programs aired on the channel Volver, which evidenced the severe deterioration of his memory.
