The Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV) is a mandatory step in Argentina for all vehicles in circulation. Ensuring that the vehicle meets the requirements is essential to avoid problems during the VTV. One of the aspects to consider is the condition of the windshield, which can be crucial for approval during the inspection.
Many times, drivers overlook details that could lead to rejection in the VTV. When taking the vehicle to the workshop for inspection, it is common to focus on mechanical aspects such as the chassis, brakes, exhaust, and suspension. A Review Certificate, a technical report, and a sticker with the expiration date are issued and adhered to the windshield after the verification.
If minor defects are found during the inspection, the vehicle can continue to circulate, but the owner has 60 working days to resolve the issue at no additional cost. In the case of serious defects, the vehicle is rejected and cannot circulate until the faults are repaired.
The windshield plays a fundamental role in the VTV, as it must be in perfect condition according to current regulations. Any crack or break in the windshield could obstruct the driver's vision and endanger the safety of the vehicle's occupants.
During the VTV, various aspects of the vehicle are reviewed, such as the structure, safety in the cabin, the steering and braking system, the suspension, environmental pollution, among others. The results of the VTV can be: Fit, Conditional, or Rejected, with this verification being an annual procedure to ensure that vehicles are in optimal condition for safe circulation.
