Aerolíneas Argentinas Faces Safety Concerns

The Argentine pilots' union warns of safety risks due to the lack of updated flight procedures by Aerolíneas Argentinas. Recent changes by aviation authorities have raised serious concerns about operational safety during flights.

Aerolíneas Argentinas Faces Safety Concerns

The Association of Airline Pilots (APLA), which represents pilots of Aerolíneas Argentinas, has sent a formal letter to the airline requesting that operational measures be taken due to the fragility in the management of flight procedures. The letter refers to the urgent need to review the administrative processes that could affect operational safety.

The Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP) are developed by the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) in collaboration with companies in the sector and the aviation authority. These procedures, which must be updated every 5 years, have not been properly updated due to a lack of action and foresight in previous management, according to the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC).

ANAC and EANA have taken immediate steps to update and improve the IFP, which in some cases had gone more than 10 years without modifications. ANAC's intervention has allowed for the reorganization of procedures at the national level, ensuring safety in air navigation and alignment with international standards.

Communication between authorities and airlines has been a point of conflict, as APLA claims that modifications to the procedures were made without proper communication, putting flight safety at risk. APLA holds ANAC, EANA, and the president of Aerolíneas Argentinas responsible for this situation.

The IFP are essential for guiding pilots during the different phases of flight in any visibility conditions. Their update is crucial to ensuring the safety of air operations. Despite the warnings and actions taken by ANAC, APLA insists on the need to correct and update flight procedures to avoid undesirable situations regarding operational safety.
