Police Officers Engage in Gunfight with Criminals in La Matanza

In the last few hours, four officers from the City Police were involved in confrontations with criminals in the Buenos Aires districts of La Matanza and Morón, resulting in one robber being killed. According to information provided by the Argentine News Agency, the incidents occurred at different times and locations.

In the first incident, a City Police officer was approached by two criminals on París Street at 2200, in Isidro Casanova. In response to the situation, the officer fired her service weapon, causing the thieves to flee. Subsequently, the officer provided her testimony at the local police station, with intervention from the 9th Prosecutor's Office in La Matanza.

In another incident, which occurred during the early morning hours, an off-duty officer was leaving a pharmacy on Diego Armando Maradona Avenue at 3100, in San Justo, when he was intercepted by four armed criminals on two motorcycles. After confronting the robbers, one of them was killed, and the others fled the scene. The Decentralized UFI on Homicide Issues of the Judicial Department of La Matanza is handling this case.

A third incident took place in La Matanza, on Ricardo Gutiérrez Street at 5800, in Gregorio de Laferrere, where an officer, upon leaving his shift on a motorcycle, was intercepted by two motorcycle thieves who attempted to steal his vehicle. After an altercation, the criminals fled the scene.

The last reported incident occurred on Mariano Moreno Street at 700, in Morón, when an officer observed seven individuals attempting to steal motorcycles from neighbors in the garage of their building. The officer confronted the thieves, causing them to flee as well.

Local authorities reported that more than 55 police officers have been victims of robberies in the Conurbano so far this year, including the case of first officer Brian Coria, who was killed on January 15 during a robbery attempt in Castelar.
