The Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV) is a mandatory control to ensure that vehicles circulate safely on the streets and roads of the country. To carry out the VTV, you must present your ID, the vehicle's green or blue registration, and the proof of the last inspection, if applicable.
With the new resolution, new vehicles will have to undergo their first inspection after 5 years from their registration. However, there are a series of vehicles that will have to follow the previous regulations and carry out the VTV annually to ensure their proper functioning and avoid problems.
The deadlines for conducting the technical inspection vary according to the type of vehicle: new private vehicles must do it every 5 years, commercial vehicles every two years, vehicles between 5 and 10 years old every 24 months, and those over 10 years old must undergo the VTV annually.
The VTV takes into account aspects such as gas emissions, noise, steering system, brakes, suspension, chassis, tires, lighting, safety, emergency, and vehicle documentation. In case of failing the VTV, the vehicle has a period of 60 working days to make the required improvements and reappear at the inspection station with a new appointment. Additionally, for vehicles running on natural gas (GNC), the certification sticker must be presented.
In summary, it is important to meet the deadlines established for the Vehicle Technical Inspection, as it is a fundamental requirement to ensure safety on the roads.
