A young woman, Emily Ceco, recounted in an interview the tragic episode of gender violence she experienced with her partner. It all began when her boyfriend physically assaulted her after seeing her dancing and having fun in a TikTok video. According to her testimony, she was hit, insulted, and choked during the attack.
"He punched me in the head, told me 'you're a whore' and hit me again, pushed me against the bed, he is very big, he started to choke me with my arms, I said 'please, let me go, you're hurting me so much' and he said 'two hours ago you weren't crying, cry now,'" the young woman recounted. Despite her pleas, the violence continued to escalate, and she was forced to defend herself.
Emily managed to escape from her home with nothing but the clothes she was wearing, seeking help from her sister. She canceled the wedding she had planned with her partner, who even claimed to postpone the ceremony citing a date mistake. The young woman emphasized the support of her family during this difficult time and detailed that she filed a complaint after the incident, obtaining a restraining order and a panic button.
Despite Santiago, her ex-partner, showing aggression in his words, the episode of physical violence took place on Friday night and Saturday morning. Emily vividly recalled how everything changed abruptly in their relationship, going from happy moments to a nightmare she managed to escape thanks to her sister's help.
The young woman shared her testimony on television, visibly affected by the traumatic experience she endured. Through tears, she expressed her feelings and the vulnerable situation she found herself in. Finally, she referred to true love as something opposite to violence, highlighting the importance of recognizing and reporting abusive situations in any type of relationship.
