Severe Storm Alert in Buenos Aires

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued an alert for strong storms that will affect various areas of the country. Intense gusts of wind, hail, electrical activity, and heavy rainfall in short periods are expected. It is estimated that accumulated rainfall could reach between 20 and 35 mm, occasionally exceeding these values.

The SMN's recommendations in light of this adverse forecast include measures such as not taking out the trash, removing objects that may obstruct the flow of water, avoiding outdoor activities, and staying away from trees and electricity poles that may fall. They also suggest not remaining on beaches, rivers, or lagoons during a storm with electrical activity to minimize the risk of being struck by lightning.

The weekend will end with poor weather conditions in various regions of the country, which has led the SMN to renew the alert for strong storms with the possibility of hail and gusts of wind. Specifically, a yellow alert remains in effect this Sunday in areas of central and southwestern Buenos Aires province, as well as in eastern La Pampa.

According to the SMN report, areas under yellow alert could be affected by isolated storms, some of which could be locally intense. It is advised to keep an emergency backpack ready with a flashlight, radio, documents, and a phone in case it is needed. In case of any developments, it is important to stay informed through local authorities.
