A climber of Polish origin, identified as Arkadiusz Wudarski, died this Saturday at about 6,500 meters while attempting to reach the summit of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas. The 52-year-old man collapsed while ascending with other climbers and the group's guide. Despite the immediate assistance from the guide, who did not respond, emergency services from Nido de Cóndores, the closest to that area, were called.
Later, a doctor accompanied by the Mountain Rescue and Assistance Patrol Unit (UPRAM) confirmed the death of the Polish citizen at the mentioned altitude. Aconcagua, located in the Las Heras department and part of the Andes Mountain Range, stands out for its 6,961 meters in height and is a highly regarded destination for climbers around the world.
In the words of the group's guide regarding the tragic situation, he commented: "Arkadiusz was an experienced climber and we were progressing well. It was a shock to see him suddenly collapse. We did everything we could to assist him, but unfortunately, we could not prevent this tragedy." Thus, adding a shocking testimony about what happened.
