A veterinarian and influencer has highlighted 4 cat breeds that he would not recommend having at home due to health problems. The veterinarian pointed out that these breeds may have breathing difficulties, similar to flat-faced dog breeds. According to him, these breeds require special care due to dysfunctional tear ducts, wrinkles around the eyes, and no eyelashes to protect them.

The Scottish Fold cat, known for its curled ears, develops arthritis at an early age due to a genetic problem in the cartilage that also affects its joints. Regarding the Persian cat, the veterinarian has observed specimens with issues such as inverted noses and prominent eyes, making them prone to eye conditions like corneal ulcers. Additionally, this breed is prone to heart, kidney, and dental diseases.

Veterinarian Ben Simpson-Vernon, a graduate of the University of Cambridge, considers these cat breeds problematic in terms of health and well-being. Listing from most to least problematic, the Bengal cat, the Sphynx cat, the Scottish Fold cat, and the Persian cat are the breeds he does not recommend having as pets.

The Bengal cat, the result of crossing a wild cat and domestic breeds, shows wild and aggressive behavior in veterinary environments. The Sphynx cat, appreciated for its uniqueness in being hairless, suffers greatly from the cold and requires special grooming care. Despite being affectionate and intelligent, these felines need additional attention, such as the use of hypoallergenic wipes to stay clean if they do not tolerate baths.
