Public Hearing on the LNG Project

The Secretary of Environment and Climate Change of Río Negro invites you to participate in the public hearing on the installation of an FLNG. It will take place on December 4th in San Antonio Este.

Public Hearing on the LNG Project

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Río Negro is inviting the public to participate in the public hearing on the project for the installation of a floating natural gas liquefaction unit (FLNG) in the San Matías Gulf. The purpose of this event is to present the project submitted by Southern Energy S.A. and consider community contributions in the final analysis.

To ensure transparency and accessibility in the process, the Ministry has made the Environmental Impact Study of the project available to everyone. The physical file is available for review at the Alto Valle Delegation of the Ministry in Cipolletti, as well as at the San Antonio Oeste Delegation. This allows interested parties to learn about the technical and administrative aspects of the project in detail.

Although public hearings are not binding, they allow citizens to consultively participate in the evaluation of the environmental impact of large-scale projects like LNG. Those wishing to speak may register in advance via an online form available on the Ministry's website, with a registration deadline of 72 hours before the hearing.

The public hearing will be held in person and will also be streamed virtually through the organization's YouTube channel, thus facilitating access for those who cannot attend in person. The opinions and contributions from the community will play a crucial role in the analysis of the project, ensuring that both technical aspects and the concerns and suggestions of society are taken into account.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Río Negro reiterated the importance of citizen participation in this public hearing, which will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 9 AM in the Municipal Gymnasium of San Antonio Este.
