These meteor showers are characterized by being slow and bright, originating from the constellation Taurus. However, astronomers point out that the visibility of this shower could be affected by the waning phase of the Moon, especially on the night of November 4 to 5.
They are called Taurids because they appear to originate in the constellation Taurus, being the result of the remnants of comet 2004TG10 in the case of the Northern Taurids, and comet 2P/Encke in the case of the Southern Taurids. Although two different meteor showers, they overlap in different parts of the world, allowing them to be visible in many places around the globe.
The Southern Taurids can be seen in countries like Argentina, Chile, and Australia, although their meteors are weaker compared to those of the north. On the other hand, the Northern Taurids will be visible in the United States, Canada, much of Mexico, and Europe, offering the possibility of observing between 5 and 10 meteors per hour, which are usually bright fireballs.
