The Cordovan locality of Colonia Marina is on alert after a strong storm dumped nearly 300 millimeters of water. According to the National News Agency, the emergency operation was deployed from early Saturday with the participation of volunteer firefighters and municipal crews. The magnitude of the storm affected much of the San Justo department, including the San Francisco area. The absolute priority of the crisis committee is to guarantee the physical integrity of the inhabitants of Colonia Marina and the adjacent rural areas. Local people described the event as "unusual", noting that there is no urban infrastructure capable of handling such a volume of water in such a short time. The contingency plan includes the provision of essential items and medical assistance for those who had to abandon their homes. The operation will remain active until the water levels recede and it is safe to return home. Local authorities have asked the population to avoid driving on flooded streets to not interfere with the work of the firefighters.
