Pizza Day Solidarity Event in Buenos Aires

On the occasion of International Pizza Day, the center of Buenos Aires will transform into an open-air kitchen. The Association of Pizzerias and Empanada Houses (APYCE) is calling for a solidarity action in front of the Obelisk, where 5,000 portions will be prepared live. The event will take place at Cerrito and Diagonal Norte (Astor Piazzolla Square) from 12:00 to 16:00. Despite expectations of 'free' food, the organization clarified the event's mechanism: a solidarity contribution of $2,000 will be offered, which includes two portions of pizza. Free prizes: Attendees can participate in the 'APYCE roulette', where they will have the chance to win prizes, additional combos, and even free whole pizzas. All proceeds will be donated to the Don Bosco Youth Groups of Avellaneda. For the event, an 11-ton, 15-meter-long sustainable food truck was set up, where a dozen master pizzaiolos will cook in front of the public using 250 kg of mozzarella and 180 kg of flour donated by sector companies. The event seeks to celebrate one of the five favorite foods of Argentines in a city that has one of the highest densities of pizzerias in the world: there are an estimated 3,000+ establishments in Buenos Aires alone.
