Vandalism in Florencio Varela Schools Before Academic Year Begins

Four school buildings in Florencio Varela have been affected by a series of robberies, vandalism, and fires recorded in recent days, just weeks before the start of the academic year. According to the Argentine News Agency, the institutions affected were EP 62, EP 67, ES 6, and EP 54, with damage to classrooms, infrastructure, and the theft of materials. The most recent incident, according to gathered reports, involved vandalism at the “Homero Manzi” high school, with the destruction of facilities and the theft of electrical-related items. In this context, the Municipality was forced to react: on Monday, a meeting was held headed by the Undersecretary of Government, Matías Schneeberger, with police officials to assess the situation. From the local administration, it was reported that it was agreed to “intensify patrolling” and install new cameras in educational establishments, without detailing deadlines, coverage, or implementation budget. In parallel, SUTEBA demanded measures to ensure effective surveillance, while the School Council affirmed that classes will start “on time and as scheduled” despite the accumulated damage.
