BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 5 (NA) -- To celebrate International Pizza Day, the city center will become a giant open-air kitchen this Monday, where master pizzaiolos will prepare 5,000 portions live. According to the Argentine News Agency, the event will feature an 11-ton self-sustainable food truck and a 'roulette' wheel with prizes where attendees can win free whole pizzas.
When: The event is scheduled for next Monday, Feb. 9, from 12:00 to 16:00. The 15-meter APYCE food truck will be set up there, turning the city's iconic landmark into the main stage of the celebration.
Why: The event has a dual purpose: to celebrate pizza culture—declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO—and to carry out a charitable initiative. While there will be free pizza raffles, the main goal is to raise funds for the Don Bosco Youth Groups (Avellaneda). For this, the public can purchase a symbolic contribution coupon for $2,000 that includes two pizza portions, until the stock of 5,000 units runs out.
For the preparation, 250 kg of mozzarella, 100 kg of tomato, and 180 kg of flour, donated by sector companies such as Molinos Cañuelas and Lácteos Barraza, will be used.
This date commemorates International Pizza Day, one of the most consumed dishes by Argentines, coinciding with the sector's peak activity day.
Where: The gastronomic event will take place at Plaza Astor Piazzolla, located at Cerrito and Diagonal Norte, right in front of the Obelisk.
