Britney Spears Says She's Afraid of Her Family

Singer Britney Spears has once again sparked controversy with a recent social media post where she reflects on the loneliness, isolation, and fear she still feels towards her inner circle, even stating that she feels "incredibly lucky to be alive." Through her Instagram account, the "Baby, one more time" artist launched harsh criticisms at her family members who, under the pretext of "helping" her, ended up excluding her: "As people, all we really want is to feel connected to one another and never feel alone... For those of you in your family who have said that helping is isolating and making them feel incredibly excluded... you were wrong." In the text, disseminated by the Argentine News Agency, Spears stated that while forgiveness is possible, it is impossible for her to forget the harm caused. In her own words, she refers to the treatment she received during the years under her legal guardianship: "I'm incredibly lucky to be alive with how my family treated me once in my life, and now I'm afraid of them." In turn, she questioned her family's lack of self-criticism: "To be totally honest with you, it doesn't matter what I say, they will never take responsibility for what they did." Lastly, Briney closed the message with a personal detail about her life and the reason she no longer posts her typical dancing videos: "I haven't danced in a month because I broke my toe twice!"
