Critique of Air Channels for Reality Formats

Journalist Daniel Gómez Rinaldi launched a strong criticism against leading air channels like Telefe and Canal 13, accusing them of basing their ratings on the production of reality shows instead of fictional content, as they used to do before the COVID-19 pandemic. During his participation in the program Esta Mañana on Radio Rivadavia with Ignacio Ortelli, Gómez Rinaldi expressed his preference for content like the exchange between Carmen Barbieri and Yuyito Gonzáles in Mañanísima, rather than consuming television reality shows.

In his statements, the journalist emphasized his dislike for reality programs, particularly mentioning Gran Hermano: 'I will tell you that I prefer this conversation, discussion, or this sketch on Argentine television rather than being led by, I don’t know, Vicky Xipolitakis or any Gran Hermano, whom I detest.' He criticized the low quality of such programs, highlighting that the audience is distracted by empty content: 'Fortunately, I’ll keep it short, because there are 20 or 30 lazy people who do nothing and people are bewildered by that.'

Gómez Rinaldi also pointed out that the ratings have decreased, which led Telefe to cancel Gran Hermano this year, suggesting that it may return in 2028. The journalist urged air channels to resume producing their own fiction instead of relying on foreign formats, stating: 'I detest them, let them make fiction and not pay all those who are paid two pesos to generate ratings.'
