Train Service Disruption Due to Infrastructure Works

The authorities of Trenes Argentinos reported that a branch of the Mitre line will have reduced service between Saturday, February 22, and Tuesday, March 4, due to comprehensive renewal works on tracks and signaling that are in poor condition and require immediate intervention.

The work, which has an estimated duration of 24 months, is already being executed with preliminary tasks. It will begin with an intensive intervention during the first 10 days to address the areas with the most operational problems. Once completed, the Tigre branch service is expected to operate at adequate levels, improving travel times and operational safety.

During this period, the Tigre branch will be interrupted, while the Bartolomé Mitre and José León Suárez services will operate with limitations to Belgrano R, without reaching Retiro. The company has established three travel alternatives for affected users, combining train, subway, and buses.

Among the tasks to be carried out is the renewal of 40 kilometers of track between Empalme Maldonado and Tigre, along with level crossings and signaling. There will be changes to rails, sleepers, and fixings, replacement of track ballast stones, adjustments in the geometry of the track with heavy machinery, and other interventions such as the channeling of track crossings.

During the first 10 days, work will focus on the section from San Fernando to Tigre and at the stations Olivos and La Lucila, where a complete renewal of tracks and drainage systems will be carried out. After this initial stage, the work will continue at night to advance on the remaining track without interfering with the service.
