New Motorhome Facilities in Gualeguaychú

The Argentine city of Gualeguaychú, in the province of Entre Ríos, is incorporating new facilities to offer more services to the growing community of motorhome tourism. At the EcoPaseo de Plaza de Aguas, a play area designated for motorhomes will be built, providing basic services such as access to drinking water, electrical energy, and wastewater disposal. This space will be located in the northern part of the city and will have the capacity to accommodate 50 motorhomes.

"The parking lots at service stations, squares, and public parks are often the preferred places for those who live or choose to travel in motorhomes during their vacations throughout the country," notes a local official. The nomadic lifestyle has experienced significant growth, especially driven by remote work and the paradigm shift generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led many people to live and work while touring different destinations.

The promotion of these spaces is essential for the community and for organizing the social life of the cities that tourists visit under these conditions. Currently, motorhomes, minivans, and campers are directed to the city's sewage treatment plant for the proper treatment of gray water, contributing to better urban organization and environmental care.

Regarding the infrastructure of the new space for motorhomes, the first phase will include a play area of 10,000 square meters with capacity for approximately 50 vehicles, a wastewater discharge area, and a potable water loading area. It is expected that in a second phase electrical supply will be added, although it has not yet been determined whether users will have to pay fees or if the municipality will cover the operating and maintenance costs.

Other locations in the country that already have spaces for motorhome resting include Campo de Piedra Pómez in Catamarca, El Calafate and El Chaltén in Santa Cruz, the Route of the Seven Lakes in Neuquén, the Iberá Marshes in Corrientes, and the Humahuaca Gorge in Jujuy. This initiative benefits singles, couples, and families traveling to various destinations, experiencing the adventure of traveling in a motorhome, accommodating different styles, prices, and sizes of vehicles.

The nomadic lifestyle has become an attractive option for those seeking to escape the stress and work routines, which often lead to discomfort and illnesses due to the fast-paced life in large cities. Furthermore, changes in vacation customs are reflected in shorter rest periods and the popularity of weekend getaways.
