During the usual controls carried out at the province's access points in the early hours of this Saturday, 500 kilograms of coca leaves were seized. The merchandise, which was destined for the local province, was confiscated for violation of the Customs Code (Law 22.415).
As part of a new phase of Operation Lapacho in Trancas, located on National Route 9, the agents conducted an inspection of a truck belonging to a courier company. Using a scanner, they were able to detect 15 packages containing the coca leaves.
"We are intensifying daily controls throughout the province in order to combat the smuggling of goods and drug trafficking," stated the authorities in charge of the operation.
