The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, informed that in October the country's public accounts had a financial surplus of $523.398 billion. This figure contrasts with the financial deficit of $454.000 billion recorded in the same month of the year 2023, a number that adjusted for inflation amounts to $1.330 trillion in current values.
Caputo highlighted that the difference between the financial results of October this year and 2023 was $1.853 trillion, reflecting a significant change in the economic situation.
The national state's accumulated surplus up to October reached $2.965 trillion, equivalent to 0.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a figure in line with what was stipulated in the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Regarding the details, it was noted that the primary surplus was $746.921 billion and the paid interest amounted to $223.523 billion. Although the minister anticipated these results on his social media account, the Ministry of Finance has not yet shared the table with the complete breakdown of income and expenses.
Maintaining the surplus in public accounts is essential within the economic program, as this influences the perception of financial markets, helping to maintain the value of bonds and reduce Country Risk.
