The Minister of Energy and Mining, Jaime Álvarez, under the instruction of Governor Claudio Vidal, has completed a work agenda that included visits to various energy facilities in European countries. In statements to LU14 Radio Provincia, Álvarez mentioned that Europe is seeking constant, economical, and scheduled energy sources, and Patagonia Argentina, particularly Santa Cruz, represents a key place for energy supply. The minister emphasized that the region has enough gas to supply Europe in the coming decades and pointed out that Europe, with a focus on clean energies, needs to make significant investments to meet its energy demand.
Regarding projections for Santa Cruz, Álvarez highlighted the province's potential in oil and unconventional gas resources, stating that the exploitation of these resources should be a state policy. Europe, he added, is calling on different countries and regions, like Argentine Patagonia, to ensure its energy supply in the short and medium term, including the use of liquefied natural gas and renewable sources such as hydrogen.
The minister stressed the opportunities that arise for Santa Cruz with investments in renewable energies and natural gas, mentioning the importance of attracting private investors to industrialize the province and generate genuine employment. In this regard, Álvarez underscored the importance of seeking investors who contribute to the development of Santa Cruz and affirmed that soon Governor Vidal will make concrete announcements once the actions to be taken are defined.
Álvarez also explained that Europe is looking to establish strategic ties in the energy sector and that the work agenda conducted in Europe aimed to explore the possibilities of cooperation in the energy field. During his visits, the minister was able to closely observe energy facilities such as the Liquefied Natural Gas regasification terminal in Zeebrugge, Belgium, the Middelgrunden offshore wind farm in Denmark, and the liquefied gas regasification ship in Brunsbüttel, Germany.
In summary, the visit and meetings conducted by the Minister of Energy and Mining of Santa Cruz aimed to strengthen the province's relationship with Europe in the energy sector and to seek investment opportunities that promote the sustainable development of the region.
