The Minister of Economy of Argentina, Luis Caputo, acknowledged that the country has lost credibility over decades due to mistakes dating back 120 years. According to Caputo, this loss of credibility represents a significant challenge for the current economic management, which has chosen an approach based on presenting concrete results from the beginning, rather than empty promises.
In this regard, Caputo emphasized that, despite unfavorable expectations, the government managed to achieve fiscal balance in just one month, an achievement he considers crucial for beginning to regain the lost trust in the country. The minister pointed out that, while a decline in gross domestic product between 2% and 3% is expected for 2024, this result is mainly due to previous statistical factors.
Caputo stressed that these results are the fruit of responsible economic management and not of coincidences or miracles. He also highlighted the importance of generating optimism and confidence in the country to attract investments and promote sustained long-term growth. The minister expressed his conviction that if the current path continues, Argentina could become a leading country in the next 30 years.
In another vein, Caputo announced that in October a significant financial surplus was recorded again, highlighting the importance of President Javier Milei's commitment to budgetary balance for the success of the economic program. In this sense, the minister urged trust in the country's future, appealing to the participation and investment of citizens as key elements to boost economic growth and secure a favorable outlook in the long term.
