The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange reported today that the wheat harvest for the current campaign covers 7.7% of the planted area, projecting a total production of 18.6 million tons. According to the report, 68% of the crops are in good to excellent condition, while the remaining 32% are in fair to poor condition, which represents an improvement compared to the previous year, when only 62% were in optimal conditions.
On the other hand, a report by the Rosario Stock Exchange highlights that wheat exports in Argentina during the 2024/25 campaign could reach the second-highest figures in history, driven by a recovery in yields after two years of climatic problems. It is estimated that external sales will reach 13.3 million tons, positioned behind the 15.4 million tons exported in the record season of 2021/22, despite the reduction in estimated production for this cycle.
Regarding the wheat harvest, it is noted that it is beginning to give way to soybean planting in Argentina. The initial projection of 19 million hectares nationwide for the 2024/25 soybean cycle shows a 3.3% increase, particularly concentrated in southern Córdoba and northeastern Entre Ríos. Additionally, more rainfall is expected in the coming days, which could facilitate timely planting plans, as highlighted by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
