In September, Argentina recorded 153,500 fewer international visitors, with a negative balance of tourists and excursionists. Indec data shows that 836,900 non-resident visitors entered the country.


Argentina Registers Negative Balance in International Tourism

In September, the tourism exchange of Argentina showed a negative balance of 153,500 international visitors, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec). This figure breaks down into a deficit of 118,100 tourists and 35,400 excursionists, defined as visitors who arrive in the country but do not spend the night.

During that month, non-resident visitors made 861,600 trips, in contrast to the 990,400 made by residents, reported Indec. Of the total 836,900 non-residents who entered the country through various means, 461,900 were tourists and 375,000 excursionists. The majority, 75.3%, came from neighboring countries, notably Brazil (24.9%), Uruguay (24.2%), and Chile (15.8%).

Regarding modes of access, 43.7% of non-resident tourists arrived by air, 43% by land, and the remaining 13.3% by river or sea.

On the other hand, residents of Argentina made 990,400 trips abroad through various international routes, of which 580,000 were tourists and 410,400 were excursionists. The main destinations were Chile (19.9%), linked to shopping; Brazil (16.2%), and Europe (15.8%).

Regarding the departures of resident tourists, 52% chose the air route, 40.4% the land route, and the remaining 7.6% by rivers and seas.
