The governor of Chubut, Ignacio "Nacho" Torres, stated that work in the Gulf San Jorge basin is assured after a meeting in Buenos Aires between representatives of Pan American Energy (PAE) and union leaders. The operator had announced vacation plans for the workers of the province, which raised concerns in the productive sector.
During the meeting, a plan for readjusting the work was established and it was agreed to reactivate the activity in the basin starting January 2. Torres stated that the annual investment plans would be maintained as part of the company's commitment to Chubut, thus ensuring the continuity of the activity.
Regarding the previously announced vacation plans, it was clarified that they would not affect the income of the workers, who are fundamental in the most productive hydrocarbon area of the province. The governor emphasized that jobs will be preserved and various actions are being evaluated to protect the income of the workers.
Torres highlighted the importance of dialogue between all parties to maintain social peace and ensure that the economic situation of the country does not directly impact employment. He emphasized the collaboration between the State and the private sector to maintain growth and development in one of the most important sectors of the provincial economy.
