Argentina's economy grew in January and reached a new all-time high, according to the Monthly Estimate of Economic Activity (EMAE). The monthly jump was 0.4%, according to the Argentine News Agency. Economic activity grew 1.9% in the first month of the year. In this regard, Minister of Economy Luis 'Toto' Caputo announced the EMAE data in a post on his official X account. 'In January, the Monthly Estimate of Economic Activity (EMAE) reached a new historical high, both in the seasonally adjusted series and in the trend-cycle indicator,' Caputo stated and added that 'the EMAE registered a 0.4% monthly growth without seasonality in January 2026.' He also added that 'in year-on-year terms, the indicator recorded an expansion of 1.9% and was 8.3% above the level of January 2024.' Excluding Public Administration and Defense, 10 of the remaining 14 EMAE sectors recorded growth in the year-on-year comparison. Among them, the most notable were: Fishing (+50.8%), Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry (+25.1%), and Mining and Quarrying (+9.6%).
