Buenos Aires, Feb 6 (NA) – Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni highlighted this Friday as a 'historic milestone' the free trade agreement with the United States and said it is 'the fruit of the diplomatic efforts of our administration'. The agreement 'consolidates the bilateral strategic relationship and includes the reciprocal elimination of tariffs for 1675 products', Adorni emphasized. Adorni stated that 'Argentina could quintuple its meat exports and benefit livestock provinces such as the Province of Buenos Aires'. 'In the past, governments of the so-called 'Great Homeland' rejected the FTAA and we saw the consequences this had: 20 years of economic stagnation, absence of investments and an increase in poverty', he highlighted, and insisted: 'Closed we are weak, integrated we are truly great'. It is reported that the agreement will now have to be ratified in Congress, where legislators will have the opportunity to take advantage of this historic opportunity for Argentines. He also noted that districts such as 'Formosa, Misiones, Chaco, Corrientes and Entre Ríos will be able to export their forestry products without tariff barriers'. And he added that 'the opening of the US market to Argentine medicines and medical supplies enables the export of high-value-added products and directly benefits provinces such as Córdoba and Santa Fe'. 'It will also benefit mining provinces such as Santa Cruz, San Juan, Mendoza, Jujuy, Salta and Catamarca', he stated.
