The governor of Buenos Aires province, Axel Kicillof, has approved a tax increase that will take effect across the province from mid-January 2026. This concerns the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV), the cost of which for vehicles up to 2,500 kg will be $97,057.65 as of January 16. The new rates will also apply to motorcycles, trailers, and heavier vehicles. Discounts are available for retirees and people with disabilities. Retirees with an income not exceeding two minimum pensions will pay 50% of the VTV cost. A full exemption is granted to vehicle owners with disabilities, provided the vehicle is used for their personal transportation, adapted or not. To qualify, applicants must provide the necessary documentation, including a current Unique Disability Certificate and proof of tax exemption from ARBA.
