According to Indec data, October supermarket sales in Argentina rose by 1.6% month-on-month and 2.7% year-on-year. Wholesale stores also showed signs of recovery.


Positive Growth in Argentine Supermarket Sales

In October, supermarket sales showed a positive marker, with a growth of 1.6% compared to the previous month, according to a survey by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec). As reported by the Argentine News Agency, in October, the total sales index at constant prices showed an increase of 2.7% compared to the same month of 2024. Likewise, the accumulated January-October of 2025 shows a positive variation of 2.7% compared to the same period of 2024. The Indec survey revealed that in October the index had an increase of 1.6% compared to the previous month, after six months of monthly fall. Self-service stores also recovered sales. On the other hand, in wholesale self-service stores, the total sales index at constant prices recorded a decrease of 9.3% in October compared to the same month of 2024. The accumulated January-October of 2025 registered a fall of 7.6% compared to the same period of 2024. Despite the annual fall, sales in self-service stores had an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous month, after a monthly fall of 4.9% in September, reported the agency.
