In November, Argentina saw a 2.7% drop in foreign tourists while resident outbound travel rose by 15.3%, creating a deficit of 224,000 tourists and increasing currency outflow. Brazil and Chile were the main destinations.

Buenos Aires, December 23 (NA) – The number of foreign tourists arriving in Argentina decreased by 2.7% in November, while the number of outbound citizens increased by 15.3%, resulting in a tourist deficit of 224,000 and an increase in currency outflow.

According to a report released this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), 491,400 tourists entered Argentina in November, while 763,800 left. Of this total, 491,400 were tourists and 303,900 were excursionists, according to the analysis of the official report by the Argentine News Agency.

19% of inbound tourists came from Brazil; 18.7% from Europe; and 14.4% from Uruguay. 52.9% of non-residents arrived in Argentina by air; 35.3% by land; and the remaining 11.9% by river/sea. The checkpoints monitored by INDEC represented 61.2% of total inbound tourism.

Outbound travel included 1,271,400 residents traveling via all international routes, of which 763,800 were tourists and 507,600 were excursionists. Additionally, 71.8% of outbound tourism was directed to neighboring countries. 47.0% of resident tourists left the country by air; 43.3% by land; and 9.7% by river/sea. The monitored checkpoints represented 57.9% of total outbound tourism.

In November, a negative balance of 476,200 international visitors was recorded across all entry routes to the country. This result was due to negative balances of 272,400 tourists and 203,700 excursionists.

In November, non-residents made 839,800 trips, while residents made 1,271,400 trips.

In November 2025, 259,800 arrivals of non-resident tourists to Argentina were estimated, representing a 5% year-over-year increase. 90.9% of these arrivals were concentrated at Ministro Pistarini International Airport and Jorge Newbery Airport.

Total outbound travel was 358,800 resident tourists, representing a 24.2% year-over-year increase. Ministro Pistarini International Airport and Jorge Newbery Airport accounted for 85.6% of resident tourist departures.

The international tourist balance in November resulted in a negative of 99,000 for all international air routes.

The main destinations were Brazil, with 21.9%; and Chile, with 21.4%.
