This grants them the freedom to choose when and where to work but also requires them to register with the tax authority and contribute to the social security system. In exchange, platforms must provide free training, insurance coverage, and ensure that couriers receive all tips. The new regulations come after years of court disputes over the status of workers at companies like Rappi and Pedidos Ya. Some courier organizations have already stated that they will challenge the law if it does not include full labor rights such as vacations and severance pay.
